As the seasons turn, so does our menu

Autumn; The time of harvest and gathering together

The clocks have fallen back and the temperature is dropping… but the leaves are turning vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow to remind us of how beautiful the autumn season is, despite the grey weather.

As we start to dust off our scarfs and thicker coats, our eating habits tend to turn to heartier, warming food to comfort us during the transition into the cooler months.

Across the country, farms and orchards are bustling with activity, with October and early November being the prime time to harvest and gather crops before the harsh cold weather kicks in.

To mark the turn of the season, we’re offering a fantastic Autumn Menu, created using the finest ingredients from our fantastic local suppliers.

Our experienced team of chefs have taken advantage of the delicious seasonal flavours and produce the local area has to offer, to create a tasty autumn and gluten free menu, we know our customers will love.

When we asked our Pub Manager, Edina, what her favourite dish from the new autumn menu is, this is what she had to say…

“My favourite dish is the sirloin steak. I love a good juicy steak that is tender and I believe steaks are at their absolute best when they are cooked medium-rare. This dish goes so well with a smooth and creamy bearnaise sauce on the side, accompanied with triple cooked chunky chips.”

Our 10oz chargrilled Surrey sirloin steak, served with garlic mushrooms, watercress, oven-dried tomato, chunky chips and béarnaise sauce, goes perfectly with a bottle of Ego Bodegas Marionette, a full bodied red wine from our new Wine of the Season list.

We also asked our Head Chef, Simon, about his favourite dish. He replied that he loves the rump and shoulder of English lamb.

“What is more British than slow cooked shoulder of lamb & pan-fried lamb rump, served pink with a parsnip puree, everyone’s favourite dauphinoise potatoes, seasonal vegetables and a creamy rosemary sauce. It’s so yummy and screams England!”

There’s always room for dessert… and that’s a good job as we have a variety of sweet treats to tempt you with.

What takes your fancy? Butterscotch cheesecake, double chocolate brownie or maybe our selection of British cheeses with apple chutney, fresh grapes and artisan assorted biscuits, for those of you with less of a sweet tooth.

“As a person who is not so keen on a sweet dessert, I love the British cheese selection! My ultimate cheeseboard is the Norbury Blue, Quickes Red Leicester and a Goodweald Smoked Cheddar, accompanied with a nice glass of Malbec.” commented Edina.

We also offer incredibly yummy gluten free options including crème brûlée, to ensure everyone at your table can enjoy their guilty pleasures.

Don’t forget, as well as our Autumn Menu, we also have plenty of offers throughout the week, including our Mid-Week Menu and Gin Wednesday’s.
