Things to do in, and around, Odiham

Spend your days exploring the pretty town, and nearby chocolate-box villages, enjoy long country walks, mooch around the independent boutique shops, and tour the local, award-winning artisan distilleries, vineyards, and breweries.

Our proximity to the Hampshire, Surrey, and Berkshire borders makes the world (aka, the Home Counties) your oyster! Whether you plan to relax and recharge, you're planning a ‘pit stop’ forming part of a larger journey, or you wish to spend multiple days with us to enjoy the countryside, coastal paths, and Castles galore. You will have plenty to keep you entertained.

Award-winning vineyards, distilleries & breweries

Hampshire and Surrey vineyards are taking on the heavy competition of the Champagne region, with their incredible English sparkling wines. Penn Croft, Hattingley Valley, Albury, Greyfriars, and Hambledon all offer tastings and tours.

Silent Pool, Gorilla Spirits, Bombay Sapphire, Winchester, and Hogmoor distilleries are all close by, plus, if you love craft ales and beer then you really must visit some of the best breweries in the area. From Hogs Back Brewery and family-owned Andwell Brewery, to Craft Brews and Surrey Hills Brewery, there’s plenty to enjoy and learn.

Activities to entertain

When the sun has got its hat on, there are plenty of great places to visit. We have theme parks aplenty, and wildlife galore with nearby Bird World and Marwell Zoo all within 45 minutes. Pack your swimmers and sun lotion and head to the South coast beaches, or stick closer to home and enjoy the man-made Frensham Great Pond with its very own beach! Alternatively, hire bikes at Alice Holt and explore the beauty of its woodlands.  Other recommendations include the theatre, cinema, Afternoon Tea, and spa days at nearby luxury venues.

Historic places of interest

Not only is our beautiful Odiham home to our RAF heroes, but there also happens to be rather a lot of wonderful and interesting history in and around the area; so, for those that love to learn more about our past, we are confident you will find plenty to see and learn.

Right here on our doorstep is Odiham Castle, otherwise referred to as St. John’s Castle, Roman Silchester, Basing House, The Vyne, Winchester Cathedral, Milestones Museum, the Rural Life Museum, Chawton House, and Gilbert White’s House & Garden.

Festivals

Enjoy, then escape, the madness of festival life, by coming home to roost, here at The Red Lion for a luxurious shower, settle in the folds of relaxed luxury, before joining us for a hearty meal with all the trimmings in our gastropub.
