The local landmarks being used for film sets

Not too far from here, you’ll find our beloved RAF Odiham. Home of the UK Chinook Force, they provide front-line support helicopter base working within the Joint Aviation Command and provide critical, rapid support for UK military operations throughout the world.  Their site, along with Aldershot Military Barracks has been used many times for movies, including Die Another Day, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Quantum of Solace, and Inception to name just a few….

Harry Potter, James Bond and more…

Do you remember the King’s Cross footbridge where Harry Potter first received his Hogwarts Express ticket? This piece of film history is now located at Ropley train station on the Watercress Line, having been relocated from London’s King’s Cross station in 2013. Do you fancy following in Harry’s footsteps and walk over the footbridge to view the steam locomotives? You can pick up the Watercress Line from the nearby village of Alton.

If you look in the other direction to Farnborough, you’ll find Hawley Woods, a beautiful woodland and lake, also famed for a myriad of movies. Examples include Avengers: Age of Ultron, Die Another Day, Johnny English: Reborn and Sahara have all featured the woodlands.

Just across the border to Surrey is the infamous Bourne Woods in Farnham, which is regularly used for filming. Previous movie sets that have taken up home here include Ridley Scott’s film Napoleon, plus the likes of Gladiator, Harry Potter, Warhorse, Thor, Wonder Woman and Transformers 3.
